The town of Gilbert Summit is part of the supply area that stretches from I-20 to the south, and the community of Rutherford County is in the north. Redding Road is to the east, Fairfield and Easton borderlands to the north, Catamount Road to the south and I / 20 to the west. The road leads into the city on the west side of the Catawba River, at the intersection of Greenville Road and Reddings Road.
Gilbert Town was originally the county seat of the former neighbouring community of Westminster, which was in the early 18th century when it was founded. Gilbert Town is located in Rutherford County, North Carolina, in the western part of the state, south of Raleigh.
Rouse's Adams Branch Tavern was the first store listed in Rutherford County court records as a tavern in Gilbert Town, at the corner of Gilbert Road and Adams Street.
Denard Ford belonged to John McFadden Jr., who had bought the property from his father-in-law, John F. Ford Jr.
Before 1751, he had come to Gilbert Town, where he settled in what became Tryon County and later served at King's Mountain, where his troops were commanded by Rutherford County troops. When reports came in that Colonel Charles McDowell was laying siege to Quaker Meadows on the upper Catawba River, Rutherford marched on. Dunn was stationed at Gilbert and served Colonel Benjamin Cleveland, guarding the Tories and Cherokees in the battle of May 1782.
After marching almost all the way to Virginia before turning around, Cornwallis resumed campaigning in North Carolina. King's Mountain was created and Rutherford was imprisoned in Gilbert Town for the rest of his life until his death in 1781.
As Ferguson retreated further, Johnson and Dunlap crossed the Broad River and stopped at Gilbert Town to find their way back to the North Carolina border.
In the 1840s, the creek was used as an important source of water for the textile industry in Rutherford County, North Carolina. In 1885, there was a major economic improvement in County Utherford when the county's textile industry began building a cotton mill at Henrietta. In the late 1880s and early 1890s, the Rutherford County cotton industry flourished.
The search was unsuccessful because Colonel Charles McDowell had hidden cattle and whiskey in caves in Rutherford and McD Powell counties. After leaving Gilbert Town, the army camped out on the banks of the river in Pigeon, Tuckasegee, Little Tennessee and Hiwassee. In Gilbert Town, Ferguson soldiers camped out to look for a possible route to the Tennessee River and its tributaries. Rutherford returned east within a month and continued to Pigton, Tuckasesgee and Little Tennessee, where 36 to 40 Cherokee villages burned down.
At an altitude of 2,200 feet, this wonderful cabin offers great views of the Tennessee River and its tributaries, as well as the mountains to the east. The cottage is located on a steep hill on the western edge of Gilbert Town and is about 1,500 feet above sea level and about 3,000 feet from the river.
